Uploading SCORM

What is a HTML5 package?

HTML5 is a form of content used by many eLearning systems. SCORM is a common standard of this content type and is the only one compatible with Myagi. Tools such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate are both common ways of creating SCORM content. You can find out more about SCORM by following this link.

Where do I upload SCORM?

Your SCORM content can be uploaded within the Lesson builder in Myagi.

Selecting the HTML5 Package option along the bottom of the page and you will be presented with a pop up allowing you to upload the SCORM package with additional instructions.

Uploading and Index Location

The Select ZIP File button will allow you to choose the correct file from your device. You should also follow these guidelines when uploading content.

  • The content must be SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 zip file.
  • Try and stick to content under 100Mb in size. This will reduce load-times for those accessing your content.
  • The Index Location is a html file within the zip file that launches the content. Depending on what software exported it, it can be have various names and locations (see below on how to find it).

How to Find the Index Location

This will be a html file that usually contains the name index within it.

  1. Open/unzip the zip file
  2. Look for a file containing the word index such as index.html or index_lms_html5.html
  3. If it’s not in the root folder look for a scormdriver folder, open it and look there. If found the Index location will be something like scormdriver/indexAPI.html

How scores are recorded

SCORM content is scored based on if it contains a quiz and whether the user completes it.

  • If the content is exited early leaving it incomplete, they will receive 0/1 which equates to 0%. This will make it appear just like an incorrect quiz question.
  • If the content is unscored (there’s no quiz within it), they will receive 0/0 which equates to 100%.
  • If the content is scored and completed, they will receive the score earned such as 80/100 (80%).

Troubleshooting

The SCORM content repeatedly fails to upload

It’s likely the file size is too large (100mb+). In these cases:

  • Check that any of the assets (images/videos) within it are a reasonable size.
  • Try using a higher performance computer with a larger amount of RAM. Older machines may just be running out of memory to process the upload of larger files.

The SCORM content appears slow

Similar to the above point, it’s likely the file size is too large (100mb+). In these cases:

  • Check that any of the assets (images/videos) within it are a reasonable size.

The SCORM content can’t load (or displays an AccessDenied error)

It’s likely that Index location isn’t correct. In these cases:

  • In Myagi click on the ‘html5 package’ and change the Index Location. See the above section in this doc on how to find the correct one.

The score is being recorded incorrectly

Similar to the above, it’s likely that Index location isn’t correct. This will cause the content to not load correctly and therefor the content can’t talk to our system to tell us what score the user got. In these cases:

  • In Myagi click on the ‘html5 package’ and change the Index Location. See the above section in this article on how to find the correct one.

The ‘exit’ button within the content doesn't work

Similar to the above, it’s likely that Index location isn’t correct. This will cause the SCORM API to not load correctly and therefor the content can’t talk to our system to tell us what buttons the user has pressed. In these cases:

  • In Myagi click on the ‘html5 package’ and change the Index Location. See the above section in this doc on how to find the correct one.
